Let us answer your questions about financial emigration
While you are still in SA we can assist with the free assessment and quote and should you decide to go ahead we can assist you with compiling your Financial Emigration pack. As the process will require certain documents from the country you are emigrating to however, the formal submissions can only commence once you arrive in your new country.
There are no upfront costs whatsoever. The fee that you are quoted and agree to will be paid out of the moved funds prior to them being deposited into your bank account in your new country.
Financial Emigration does require you to forfeit either your South African passport or citizenship. Even if you ever decide to give up either or both for whatever reason, if you were born in SA you can always return as it’s your birth right.
Once you are in your new country the process can be started formally however that does not mean we cannot assist until then. While you are still in SA we can begin preparing all your required documents so that they are ready to submit as soon as you arrive in your new country
No you cannot keep any of your old accounts. One of the steps in the process is to close all your SA bank accounts, as well as bringing any credit cards or accounts up to date and closing them. If there are any funds in your SA accounts those funds can be moved to your SARB approved ‘Blocked Account’ prior to the funds being moved offshore to your new country.
Yes it will. Ideally you should try to bring your tax affairs up to date before starting the process however if required, we can quote you to get your SARS affairs in order, even if you have arrived in your new country.
Yes it will, in fact it’s the only way you can cash-in your policies in SA and commute them to your new country. If the values of your policy/policies should exceed.
Yes certainly you can. Please be advised though that many people attempt to do it by themselves however often give up due to the length of time, (Over a year due to not knowing the process timelines and order of document submissions etc). We have many clients who give up and then opt to use specialists like us who complete the process within 4-6 months.
